☀️ San Diego Named World's Most Relaxing City in 2025
San Diego has been named the most relaxing city in the world, topping a list compiled by international eSIM provider Holafly. The city earned high marks for its incredible 266 parks and nature reserves, the highest on the list, along with 359 spas and wellness centers and an impressive 3,000+ annual hours of sunshine.
The study looked at key factors like access to nature, air quality, wellness facilities, traffic congestion, and overall happiness. San Diego’s combination of beautiful beaches, extensive green space, mild weather, and wellness culture made it the ultimate destination for physical and mental relaxation. Other top-ranked cities include Singapore (2nd), Vienna (3rd), Sydney (4th), and Melbourne (5th).
🍕Corner Pizza Comes to Encinitas
North County’s favorite neighborhood pizza spot, Corner Pizza, is opening its fourth location—this time in downtown Encinitas at 628 S Coast Highway 101. The new shop takes over the former East Village Asian Diner space and continues the brand’s focus on fast, casual counter service with a consistent menu loved by locals.
Owned by Mario Guerra, Jimmy Maldonado, and Jason Janececk, Corner Pizza started in 2020 in Leucadia and has since added locations in Oceanside and Carlsbad’s Bressi Ranch. They’re known for unique pies like the honey-drizzled Killer Bee, truffle-rich Mushroom Queen, Sausage Fest, and creamy Margherita Burrata, plus fresh salads and a curated beer and wine list.
This downtown Encinitas spot brings the same relaxed, beach-adjacent vibe that locals love—order at the counter, grab a seat, and enjoy some of North County’s best pizza in a walkable neighborhood setting.
🏠💸 Tax Time Reminder for Homeowners!
Another reminder that property tax bills for homes, condos, and land are due. Your first payment was due November 1 (late if not paid by December 10), and the second is due February 1 (late after April 10). If a deadline lands on a weekend or holiday, you have until the next business day to pay without penalty.
Thanks to Proposition 13, most local homes are taxed at about 1% of assessed value, plus voter-approved extras—so double-check your bill. The Carlsbad area’s median rate runs close to 1.11%, putting the average property tax just under $7,000, but your exact bill depends on location and value.
💵 Miss a payment? There’s a 10% penalty, plus added interest if your tax goes unpaid past June 30. Avoid the headache and pay online by e-check—it’s fast, free, and simple with your bank account info. If needed, the county offers payment plans and support for those who need extra time.

Until next time,
