  • Pizza Port Portside and Lola's Deli put out a one-night-only pizza built like a California burrito, and Rent the Runway's warehouse sale keeps rolling through the weekend in Carlsbad.

Let’s get to it.

🗓️ Upcoming Events in (and around) Carlsbad

Friday 8/28:

  • California Burrito Pizza Collab | Pizza Port Portside, 571 Carlsbad Village Dr, Carlsbad | 5–7pm
Pizza Port's brewers teamed up with Lola's Deli on a one-off pie loaded with carne asada, fries, ranchero cheese, and green salsa over a sour cream and guac base. It's basically a burrito reimagined as a pizza, and it's only on the menu for the two hours it's served. details

  • Damn Am San Diego 2026 | LVLUP USA, 1410 Vantage Ct, Vista | Runs Fri–Sun, times vary by day
Skatepark of Tampa opens its Damn Am series here first this year, pulling in amateur skaters from across the country. Friday's practice and registration lead into qualifiers Saturday and a Red Bull Best Trick contest that afternoon, with finals and awards wrapping up Sunday. The top 20 finishers punch a ticket straight to Tampa Am. details

  • Rent The Runway Warehouse Sale | Alternative Retail, 2561 El Camino Real, Carlsbad | 10am–6pm, through Sunday
Racks of designer dresses, jumpsuits, and outerwear go for 90 percent off retail, pulled from Rent the Runway's own rental inventory. Tickets are required and only get you a one-hour shopping window, so book a slot before showing up. details

Reserved shaded seating comes standard with this week's ticket, a step up from general admission if tables beat rail spots for you. Drink and food specials run at the bar through the afternoon, and eight races fill out the card same as any Friday. details

  • Música en la Plaza, Sabrosas Latin Orchestra | Lyric Courtyard, California Center for the Arts, 340 N Escondido Blvd, Escondido | 7–10pm
San Diego's only all-female salsa band brings salsa, cumbia, and cha cha to the courtyard this month, food trucks and a cocktail bar set up around the seating. Free to attend, part of the arts center's monthly outdoor series that runs the last Friday of each month. details

  • Rocky Horror Picture Show, Live Shadow Cast | La Paloma Theatre, 471 S Coast Hwy 101, Encinitas | 10:30pm
Crazed Imaginations acts out the film scene for scene in front of the screen, props and audience callbacks included the whole way through. Bring your own toast and rice if you already know the drill, or just watch the chaos unfold if this is your first time, though this one skews adult. details

Saturday 8/29:

  • Frontwave Arena Collectibles Expo | Frontwave Arena, 3475 Hero Dr, Oceanside | 10am–6pm
Sports cards, Pokémon, and other trading card game singles fill the floor for this one-day expo, dealer tables stacked with binders and graded slabs. Buy, sell, or trade with collectors from across the county at up to 160 tables. details

  • Aviator Stash & The Band Cope | Pour House, 1903 South Coast Highway, Oceanside | 9pm
Two San Diego indie and alt-rock acts split a Saturday night bill, no covers on either setlist. Pour House keeps it standing-room and close to the stage, so get there early if you want a spot up front. details

Sunday 8/30:

  • LeucadiART Walk, 20th Annual | S Coast Hwy 101 (Marcheta to W Jason St), Encinitas | 10am–5pm
Artists line the highway with paintings, sculpture, blown glass, and jewelry, judged and juried rather than a typical craft fair. Three stages keep music and dance going all day, and a beer garden and kids' art pavilion round out the block. details

  • Tacos for a Cause | Buddy Todd Park, 2800 Mesa Drive, Oceanside | 12pm
Every taco plate sold goes toward Cynthia's cancer treatment costs, with raffles and games running alongside the food all afternoon. Bring the kids, there's a full slate of family activities built around the fundraiser, not just a folding table and a jar. details

Goop Kitchen Opens Its First San Diego Location at One Paseo

Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop is bringing its Goop Kitchen concept to Carmel Valley on August 31, taking over the former Tender Greens space at One Paseo. It's the brand's first full-service, dine-in restaurant, a shift from the ghost-kitchen delivery model behind its 11 locations in Los Angeles and three in the Bay Area.

The menu runs on Goop's Certified Clean standard, meaning no gluten, dairy, processed sugar, or seed oils, with bowls, salads, gluten-free pizzas, and rotisserie chicken served inside a new indoor-outdoor dining room. A second location is already planned for UC San Diego's $453 million Triton Center.

Until next time,
